This collection consists of certificates for stock in the French Opera Association, Limited, in New Orleans, La., showing authorization for the transfer of the value of the stock to the Tulane Educational Fund. Handwritten or typed correspondence accompanies some of the certificates. A list of stockholders is included.

The French Opera House in New Orleans came into existence near the middle of the nineteenth century. The building was erected in 1859, five blocks from Canal Street, on the corner of Bourbon and Toulouse Streets. The opera house was destroyed by fire in November 1919 and was not rebuilt.
